There were disruptions for motorists on Dunedin's southern motorway after a caravan overturned earlier this afternoon.

It is believed the southbound caravan, which was being towed, flipped after hitting a median barrier between Lookout Point and Green Island around 1.30pm.

Both southbound lanes have now reopened after a lengthy delay while debris was being cleared.

There were no injuries.
