A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from the St Kilda and Dunedin City stations responded to what was reported as a smoke-logged kitchen.
On arrival, firefighters discovered a small fire in a pan, which was under control.
A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said two people were transported to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance.
