The driver was chased by police a short distance along Malvern St about 11.50pm, when the car crashed through a fence at speed on the corner of Patmos Ave.
Police were making inquiries about the driver, who had yet to be apprehended.
Earlier on Friday, police also chased a disqualified driver around Mornington.
The short pursuit about 6pm ended when the 27-year-old Dunedin driver abandoned his vehicle on a residential street and attempted to flee.
Police soon located and arrested him.
He was charged with failing to stop for police and driving while disqualified.
The man is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Friday.
Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said there was no real risk to public safety during either pursuit.
