The smiles on hundreds of children’s faces are what you get. The smiles were out when Caring Families Aotearoa was at Moana Pool yesterday for its annual Family Fun Day event.
The event is put together for disadvantaged families that have had a hard time and other deserving children who have had a tough start to life.
Event manager Jason Butler said it was a roaring success.
‘‘It was an absolutely fantastic day. Everyone that attended has had a blast.’’
The event was sponsored by local businesses and tickets to attend were given by them free to Dunedin families, Mr Butler said.
Children got to ride the hydroslide, indulge in a sausage sizzle and meet life-sized mascots of Elmo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Donatello.
The event went from 10am to 2pm and put a smile on the face of hundreds of children, he said.
‘‘We get lots and lots of thank yous from the families, all saying ‘thanks for putting this on’, which is great.
‘‘At the end of the day, you've got to have fun.’’
Five-hundred-and-eighty tickets had been given out to families throughout Dunedin.
