It docked at the X/Y sheds in Dunedin about 4.45pm where it sat beside Ocean Dawn, also owned by Sealord.
Sealord said today the Rehua experienced engine failure when the propellor seized after several abandoned ling pots that were stuck in the trawl net got tangled around it.
It is unknown which fishing company the ling pots belong to.
It is believed Rehua, with 43 crew on board, was fishing south of Stewart Island when the incident occurred, about 3pm on Sunday.
Ocean Dawn was heading to Dunedin to off-load at the time, and it turned around to tow Rehua to Dunedin. Two Port Otago tug boats then moved the ship into the harbour.
Rehua is having a full check over by Sealord’s engineering team, and the extent of any damage is yet to be determined.
It is expected to be in port in Dunedin for a couple of days before heading back down south.
