This evening and tomorrow, the Dunedin Ice Stadium will be transformed into Neverland as the Dunedin Ice Skating Club puts on its rendition of the classic Peter Pan tale.
Pan on Ice co-director Megan Kliegl said the annual ice show was starting to turn into "a bit of a Dunedin institution".
The show started about 10 years ago and was originally put on as "just a bit of fun" for the Dunedin Ice Skating Club, but as the event gained more and more popularity, Ms Kliegl found herself being approached by the club’s board as early as June.
"It’s become this thing Dunedin demands — Dunedin really rallies for this."
Rest-homes, primary schools and cafe owners were the show’s main viewer base.
This year, Ms Kliegl and her co-director Rachael Jannink had written a script and produced an act that was a mash-up between the classic Peter Pan and the cult-classic Hook movie.

"It's almost like when you want to see them skate the most beautifully, watch them skate in the show."
There would be about 40 people skating.
Peter Pan would be played by 17-year-old Brooke Cathro, who Ms Kliegl said was set to put on an "Olympic-level" performance.
"She does four routines in this ice show, and in at least two of them she does double axels ... and a whole bunch of triple jumps.
"An audience isn't going to be able to identify what she's doing, but she's doing things that you'd see in the Olympics."
There would be 800 tickets per showing and three performances put on today and tomorrow.
