Some Christmas cheer will arrive for patients at Dunedin Hospital with a special Christmas Day menu featuring traditional roast turkey and pavlova.
The Christmas lunch menu includes turkey and honey-glazed ham, served with roasted chipolatas wrapped in bacon, minted new potatoes, roast vegetables and gravy, while vegetarians are being offered a zucchini and nut slice with a lightly spiced peanut sauce.
The traditional lunch is followed with lighter options for dinner, including sauteed chicken and apricot braised in a light gravy or an individual asparagus, feta, olive and kumara tart topped with tomato chutney and served with salad.
Christmas Day desserts include Christmas pudding, summer trifle, fresh raspberry shortcake and cream and chocolate mousse to tempt appetites.
The festive fare continues on Boxing Day with such choices as roast pork or a roast vegetable terrine garnished with plum sauce and crumbed camembert.
Patients will be able to celebrate the New Year with a hospital version of a summer barbecue of marinated chicken, hamburgers, sausages, onion rings and a summer salad.
