The team of Sally Warlow, Yash Gautam, Isaac Saini and Prableen Singh won the case study competition at the University of Waikato in Hamilton on Saturday.
The competition focused on one company, Grin Natural, and its strategy to expand into the European market, particularly Germany. The oral care company sells products made of natural components.
Five groups — there were also teams from AUT, Victoria University, Massey University and Waikato University — had four hours to develop their case to present to the judges.
Mr Saini said he could see how a brand like Grin could build trust, lead a movement and establish credibility with parents in a meaningful way.
Ms Warlow is from Dunedin while Mr Gautam and Mr Singh are from India and Mr Saini comes from Singapore.
They are studying for a Master of Business Administration over one and a-half years and should finish it in the middle of next year.
The competition valued teamwork and for each team member to contribute their unique strengths towards a shared vision.
The team was coached and assisted by Otago MBA director and head of department for executive programme Tony Garry and the Otago MBA coaching team of Tonia Overmeyer, Sergio Biggemann, Troy Mihaka and Laura Bradley.
