The 19 Kaikorai Valley College pupils studying in the school's Brathwaite Learning Centre will hold their third annual art exhibition and auction.
"They're all students with disabilities, or a variety of different learning needs," Brathwaite Learning Centre department head Karen Patrick said yesterday.
Funds raised were used to buy classroom resources, such as laptop computers, Mrs Patrick said.
"Some of the kids here are non-verbal, but they can still be very visual and can communicate through drawing," art teacher Rob Piggott said.
"The therapeutic nature of art can be a very settling and calming activity and it increases concentration. It's also something they can achieve that they can share with other people," he said.
"The kids love it when they see people bidding for their work ... Some of the works are fantastic."
The "Through Our Eyes" art exhibition and auction starts at 6.30pm next Thursday in the Kaikorai Valley College Brathwaite Centre.
