Thick fog disrupts Dunedin flights

Thick fog at Dunedin International Airport this morning has prevented a flight from Christchurch from landing and the cancellation of the 8.20am departing flight from Dunedin to Christchurch.

Air New Zealand manager Alistair Bevin said the 8am flight from Christchurch with 40 people on board was turned back to Christchurch due to the foggy conditions and the 8.20am flight from Dunedin to Christchurch was cancelled.

The 35 people affected have been rebooked on later services. Two flights to Dunedin were circling north of the city at 9am, waiting for the fog to clear.

Mr Bevin said the weather conditions appeared to be improving and he was not expecting any other flight delays.
