Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews from the Dunedin and St  Kilda stations were called to the Salvation Army building yesterday after a mishap with a toaster.

They were alerted to the fire at the building in Crawford St at 8.38am.

A Fenz spokesman said crews discovered a smoking toaster in the kitchen.

‘‘Crews removed said toaster along with the burnt toast from the building and left the premises in the hands of the occupiers.’’
