Two people were injured in the crash, one of them being taken to hospital.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted to the crash at the intersection of Great King St and Pine Hill Rd (State Highway 1) yesterday at 10.45am.
The road was not blocked at all and towing was requested for at least one of the vehicles, she said.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance responded to the scene.
One patient was transported to Dunedin Hospital in a minor condition, and another patient in a minor condition was assessed and treated at the scene, the spokesperson said.
The north Dunedin intersection has been investigated for about 25 years.
NZTA Waka Kotahi team lead safety engineers Roy Johnston said there had been a total of 21 crashes at the intersection since 2019 — excluding yesterday’s crash.
Two of those were serious injury crashes, six were minor injury and 13 were non-injury.
There had been no fatal crashes at the intersection in the past five years.
An NZTA business case was under way to look at ways of making the intersection safer, Mr Johnston said.
