Dunedin police are searching for a red ute after it was seen doing donuts on the North Ground near St David St this evening.
A police spokesman said witnesses saw the vehicle being driven erratically on the field about 7.30pm, and there had been reports of considerable damage to the playing surface.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing,'' he said.
The ground is the home of the Alhambra Union Rugby Football Club.
