Woman lifted to safety after slip

A woman was lifted to safety last night after slipping about 3m down a bank on to a beach at Port Chalmers.

The 25-year-old was walking on a path on Victory Pl when she slipped, about 8.15pm.

Acting Senior Sergeant Jared Kirk said the woman sustained a leg injury, possibly a broken ankle.

A St John spokeswoman said the the woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.

A Fire Service spokesman said a basket was used to bring the woman to safety.
