Badminton: Plenty of success for KHS player

King's High School year 10 pupil Avinash Shastri has been racking up the titles on the badminton court.

After success at the South Island badminton tournament earlier this season, he competed at the South Canterbury badminton tournament, in Timaru earlier this month.

He won three titles, in the under-15 grade singles, doubles and mixed doubles, continuing his fine run of form.

A week later, he entered the Otago under-15 tournament, in Dunedin, where he had further success, winning the doubles and the mixed doubles.

He was set to line up for another victory in the singles competition but was forced to pull out of the final, because of an ankle injury, and had to be content with the runner-up place.

Avinash, though, cannot be too disappointed, as he has already had plentyof success, with the promise of more tocome.
