The Logan Park High School pair of Jacobi Kohu-Morris and Callum Horwell won the school's first New Zealand secondary schools bowls title in Christchurch yesterday.

Kohu-Morris and Horwell beat Nathan Aldridge and Taylor Duncan (Tauranga Boys') 11-7 in the final at the Papanui Bowling Club. The championship was first held in 2000.

Logan Park was part of the zone 6 team from Timaru to Invercargill that contested the event.

The only other zone six combination to have won the boys pairs was the East Otago High School team of Josh Freeman and Mark Watt in 2003.

Freeman was the chairman of Bowls Dunedin when the championship was held in Dunedin last year and Watt is a member of the Bowls New Zealand development squad.

Euan Wong (Hutt Valley High School) retained his boys singles title when he beat Sheldon Bagrie-Howley (Gore High School) 17-11 in the final. In the girls final, Nicola Toomey (St Mary's College) beat Holly McIlroy (Manurewa High School) 19-10.

Tarani Paul and Sadie Sieglaar (St Dominic's College) beat Sophie Fisher and Caitlin Thomson (Palmerston North Girls') 12-6 in the girls pairs.

The St Hilda's Collegiate pair of Brooke Craik and Alex King won the plate final in the girls pairs.

Otago Boys' High School twins Elliott and Oliver Mason won the boys pairs plate final.
