Police last night ended an armed offender callout, successfully nabbing a man with a rifle who had threatened to harm himself at a West Auckland house.
No shots were fired and no one was hurt, police said.
Inspector Lou Alofa, northern communications duty operations commander, told NZPA police entered the Henderson house about 8.30pm and took the man into custody.
He was severely drugged and intoxicated and was taken to Auckland Hospital for assessment.
The man, in his 60s, was alone in the house.
Police cordons in the area were removed once the incident was over.
