A man has been bailed after appearing in court today on charges of stupefying and indecently assaulting a 12-year-old girl in a Christchurch park.
Kirk Daniel Rutledge, 42, appeared from custody at Christchurch District Court.
He has been charged with wilfully and without lawful justification or excuse stupefying the girl in a Dallington Park yesterday (Tue) and indecently assaulting her.
Police say Rutledge, of Avonside, approached the girl, who was alone in Woodham Park, around lunch time.
A group of people in the park became concerned and phoned police, Detective Sergeant Mark Reid said.
Police then located the man still in the park with the girl.
Rutledge made no plea today and was granted to bail to next appear in court on October 3.
