Fatality at Northland fun park today

A man in his 50s died after falling 10m from a flying fox at a Northland fun park today.

St John territory manager Mark Going said an ambulance from Whangarei responded to a call in Maungakaramea at about 5.45pm.

Two advanced paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man who was in cardiac arrest as the result of the fall but were unsuccessful.

It is believed the accident happened at AE Fun Park on Hayward Rd, about 15 minutes south of Whangarei.

When contacted the park said it had no comment at this stage.

According the park's website the 500m flying fox is the longest in Northland and the third longest in the country. It reaches a top speed of 80kph.
