A yacht belonging to missing Masterton man Brendon Eagle has been found tied up in Picton.
Mr Eagle, 35, who was suffering from depression, left home on September 27 without his medication and the last confirmed sighting of him was in the Marlborough Sounds early in October aboard a yacht he had recently bought.
Wellington police communications manager Kaye Calder told NZPA the yacht had been found tied up in the visitors' wharf at Picton on Tuesday night.
"We're satisfied that Mr Eagle is not at sea. That was one of our concerns because of his inexperience and the problems we were aware he'd had with the boat.
"We're still trying to track him down," Ms Calder said.
Picton police were making some inquiries to see if he was in the Picton area.
"His family now know that the boat's there so that's been one bit of relief for them. We just still hope to find him."
