Olympian found guilty of indecent assault

A jury in the Auckland District Court yesterday found Olympian Arthur Parkin guilty of two of five charges of indecent assault.

Parkin faced five charges of indecently assaulting three young girls in Whangarei, Auckland and Coromandel between 1975 and 1983.

‘‘Imprisonment is very much on the cards,’’ Judge Robert Ronayne told Parkin.

The identities of the three complainants were suppressed under statutory law but their allegations were revealed in court last week as the three victims testified against Parkin.

Parkin was remanded on bail until May.
