Overnight quake felt in Auckland, Bay of Plenty

An earthquake struck near White Island and was felt in Auckland and Bay of Plenty early this morning, GNS Science reports.

The quake, which measured five on the Richter Scale, was five kilometres deep and located 100km north of White Island.

It occurred at 2.14 am today.
