They were Trevor Malcolm Wiringi (50) and Helen Dorothy Smith (49) from Rotorua.
Police were alerted after the bodies were discovered by a member of the public near Mere Rd on Friday, October 16.
A day after the bodies were found police announced that the deaths were not considered suspicious.
A rāhui was placed at Taharepa Baths on the Lake Taupō waterfront by Ngāti Tūwharetoa following the deaths. It was lifted on Monday.
The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
