Police are expected to reveal today what caused the deaths of a mother and her two pre-school daughters in their Hawke's Bay home at the weekend.
Post mortem examinations were conducted yesterday on Melissa Dorward, Keira Watson, four, and Ellah Watson, two, and the results will be known by midday.
A family member found the bodies of the trio at their home in Rockwood Place, Haumoana, about 10am on Sunday.
Police quickly said there were no suspicious circumstances and they were not looking for anyone else.
No weapons were found at the property and none of the bodies had any obvious injuries.
Hawke's Bay Today reported Ms Dorward was pregnant and her partner and two older sons were away from the house at the time.
The family had only moved into the Rockwood Place home the day before they were found,
Haumoana School principal Marty Hantz confirmed two of the surviving sons attended his school.
School staff would want to make sure the boys were well looked after during the start to the third term, he said.
"But at the moment I really don't want to give out too much info about them, I just want to respect the family."
The small seaside village is coming to grips with the tragedy.
"It's devastating for a small community, most people know most people around here," said one shop worker, who did not want to be named.
Hastings police said the inquiry into the deaths would take days.
"Investigations are nowhere near complete and there is still a lot of work to be done to ascertain how they died and under what circumstances," said Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange.
Officers would spend the day talking to friends, family and neighbours, he said.
