The jury in the Liberty Templeman murder trial broke its deliberations this morning to review a section of the confession tape given by the accused.
The part they wanted to look at again dealt with the 16-year-old saying he hit Liberty and strangled her.
In evidence he gave on the witness stand he denied strangling her.
The jury viewed this section of the tape three times before resuming deliberations about midday.
Liberty, 15, was found face down in a Kerikeri creek on November 1, 2008. The Crown contends the accused, aged 14 at the time, beat her unconscious, strangled her and left her to drown. The defence does not deny that the accused killed Liberty, but is seeking a manslaughter verdict.
