A stuntman in England is thought to be the first person to jump out of a helicopter and land safely without deploying a parachute.

Gary Connery, 42, used a "wingsuit" to make his descent from 730m above Oxfordshire, BBC reports.

Connery said he felt "elated" after landing safely on a 'box rig' - a pile of 18,600 cardboard boxes about 100m long by 15m wide.

He wore a parachute for the jump, during which he reached speeds of 130kmh, but he didn't use it.

The entire flight took less than a minute to complete.

A cameraman also jumped with a wingsuit, but he deployed a parchute to land.

Connery has worked on films including Die Another Day, Batman Begins and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
