That was how Otago Special Olympics powerlifting team coach Amanda Young greeted last night's announcement that the team had just won the $1500 Supreme Award at the latest annual Trustpower Dunedin Community Awards.
The 2017 awards were announced at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum, in Dunedin.
The powerlifting team comprises Ms Young and volunteers who provide a support group and a ''supportive, nurturing and caring environment'' to help special needs athletes develop their powerlifting skills.
Ms Young paid tribute to the ''great team'', which received a trophy, certificate and $1500 prize money, after they earlier also won the sports and leisure category at the awards.
This group will now be able to represent the district through an all-expenses paid trip to the next national awards, to be held in the Queenstown Lakes district next April.
In total, Trustpower had given more than $5000 to various community groups through yesterday's awards, including $500 each to category winners.
Other category winners were: Heritage and environment, Portobello Community Incorporated; health and wellbeing, Youthline Otago; arts and culture, Otago Access Radio; education and child/youth development, Presbyterian Support Otago Buddy Programme, Dunedin & Mosgiel; youth community award, Louise Nicholson, Queen's High School.
