Lloyd Morrison.
The millionaire businessman has passed away after a battle with leukaemia.
He was diagnosed with the illness in 2009, and late last year went to Seattle for cancer treatment.
Morrison founded Infratil in 1994, and was worth $100 million according to the NBR rich list.
A Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, Morrison was a leading campaigner for a change to the New Zealand flag.
"Self-determination for New Zealand is not a choice, it's a reality. No one is going to look after us," he told the Herald in 2010.
Morrison and six other Wellington business people took over the Phoenix Football Club licence after former owner Terry Serepisos was forced to give up control last year.
