School triathlon swimmers begin their circuit in Moke Lake yesterday.
A total of 84 Wakatipu High School pupils in years 9 to 13 braved ice-cold temperatures in water and difficult terrain on mountain bike and foot for their annual triathlon at Moke Lake yesterday. Challengers swam 200m around buoys in the lake, then cycled on a 10km loop before running 6km to the finish line. James Beech captured the action.
The top results included.-
Senior individual male: Will McIntyre (17), 1hr 0min 6sec.
Senior individual female: Lauren Kerr (17), 1hr 6min 32 sec.
Junior boys: Jack Aitken (15), 1hr 7min 51sec.
Junior girls: Alex Rosie (15), 1hr 21min 2sec.
Team results will be published in the Queenstown Times when collated by the school.
