A search and rescue team has found an a injured speed flier in Arthur's Pass National Park.
A southern police communications spokesman said the man is alive, and describes his condition as "safe."
He has been taken down the mountain to the Temple Basin area, and police this morning were waiting for a full report from rescuers.
Searchers made the trip on to a skifield in freezing conditions last night after a skier was seen lying under power lines.
Southern communications team leader Mike Murphy said the man was speed flying at Temple Basin ski field yesterday afternoon.
Speed flying is skiing with the aid of a fabric wing, which adds speed and lift.
The man had set off for a run down the slopes but emergency services were called when he failed to arrive at the bottom within minutes.
The Greymouth rescue helicopter was sent to search for him and saw him lying under powerlines but was unable to land because of the proximity of the power cables.
At the time it wasn't known whether the man had fallen over, hit the power lines or possibly been electrocuted.
