Show gets their motors running

    Petrolheads of all ages converged on Invercargill at the weekend to share their passion for cars.

    The third edition of HPTO Show & Shine at Teretonga Park included a car show, drift demonstrations and even races.

    Winton father and son Ben and Jack (11) Stevenson attended the first day of the event on Saturday as they wanted to have a close look at the "machines".

    "It is a great thing for us to spend some time together as we both love cars and motors," Mr Stevenson said.

    "I think this passion is passing through generations."

    Show director Troyden Findlay said the event was getting bigger every time and there were more than 160 models on display at the weekend.

    It was all about bringing car culture back to Southland, he said.

    "Southland is a huge region for motorsports — we got tracks here all over the place ... so Invercargill is very petrolhead friendly."
