Cafes opening; old faithful changes hands

Movements in Dunedin's cafe scene continue apace.

Two new offerings from established players appear poised to soon open their doors, while another longtime favourite has a new proprietor.

Signs for Noble, a new cafe from the owners of north Dunedin’s Buster Greens, have gone up at the former Two Chefs Bistro in Stuart St.

It is advertising for staff.

Work is also continuing on Roslyn Bread Technologies & O.A.A — the latest outing from the owners of Big Lizard bakery, in Vogel St, and former Moray Pl cafe Side On.

The new establishment was announced on social media last month and is to be housed in the former Highgate premises of Gilbert’s Fine Food, which was formerly the Friday Shop.

Modaks Espresso, in George St, has also been under new ownership since the end of March.

It is estimated Modaks has operated from the same site for about 30 years.
