For a good cause: Female firefighters from the Mossburn Volunteer Fire Brigade were photographed for a fundraising calendar recently. They are (from left) Ruby Turner (recruit), Joanne Kenning (operational support), Tracey Campbell (firefighter), Shirley Rutland (senior firefighter), Rachel Trusler (senior firefighter) and Kahui Potaka (firefighter). Photo by Shirley Nolan.
The Mossburn Volunteer Fire Brigade's six female firefighters feature in the 2010 New Zealand Female Firefighter calendar, which was launched recently.

Brigade member Tracey Campbell said, of the 25 brigade members, six were female.

"We saw last year's calendar and it looked really good," Ms Campbell said.

They emailed calendar creator Shirley Nolan, of Pleasant Point.

Ms Nolan, a member of the Pleasant Point Volunteer Fire Brigade, photographed and created the 2009 calendar, which featured photographs of female firefighters from brigades throughout New Zealand.

It raised more than $20,000 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

This year, rescue helicopter trusts throughout New Zealand will benefit from sales.

Ms Campbell said the women got together one Saturday earlier in the year.

"Our hair and make-up was done by Andrea Eden, of Lumsden. Shirley took the photos with the Mossburn stag. It was promoting our town and our fire brigade and promoting the fire service."

The calendars are $10 plus $2 for postage and handling.

Post a cheque for $12 to Ms Campbell, PO Box 50, Mossburn, or contact Ms Nolan on firelady-calendar@hotmail.com
