Lochie Elliot, of the Patearoa-Styx team, competes in the Maniototo Community Cup in Naseby yesterday. Patearoa-Styx won the event.

The rules were "there are no rules".

But nothing much was going to go wrong in the "good, clean, healthy fun" of the eighth annual Maniototo Community Cup in Naseby yesterday, when teams of eight from seven Maniototo communities challenged each other in the Top Town-style event.

Patearoa-Styx emerged victorious after eight rounds of competition, which included a scarecrow-making competition, disc golf, a seesaw challenge and a team relay to finish.

Organisers had fun creating the challenges and it was great to host such a family-oriented event, one of the organisers, Denise Baddock, said.

"It’s a fun event, to get the Maniototo community together enjoying a bit of fun in the sun. You’d be surprised how competitive it gets. But it’s a great family event. Everyone loves it."

The Naseby team was second in the event, and Kyeburn-Dansey’s Pass was third.
