All safe after Alexandra fire

The occupants of an Alexandra house are all safe after fire tore through the roof of the property yesterday.

The blaze at the Kamaka Cres, Bridge Hill, home was brought under control after firefighters were called just after 6.30pm. Smoke billowed from the roof of the house in a leg-in section, and flames could be seen from the street.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said all the people in the house were accounted for and safe.

Alexandra Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Russell Anderson said there were no suspicious circumstances and the fire's cause would be investigated.

Four appliances and 20 firefighters from Alexandra and Omakau attended the incident.
