A painted rock snake has been winding its way into the community’s hearts at Pisa Moorings’ playground since February 2025 — but someone has since made off with her head.

Sandra and her husband Kevin, who did not wish to share their surnames, began construction of Roxy after spotting a rock they decided was born to be a snake’s head.

With the neighbourhood’s blessing, Roxy began curling around the playground shrubs one painted rock at a time.

All 30m and 265 rocks were contributions from locals aged 3 to 83, visitors from Perth, the Czech Republic and the Mediterranean.

"I love looking at all the different rocks — people have really embraced it and gone to a lot of effort," Sandra said.

"Everyone has done something that is special to them."

But someone has since pilfered Roxy’s head, all 5kg of it.

A replacement painted rock by a young child had since vanished too.

"Kids have been looking in the bushes and around the park," Sandra said.

"This is something for the community and we just want Roxy’s head back."
