Fire destroys two huts used by hunters

A fire destroyed two hunting huts near Ranfurly early yesterday morning.

Ranfurly Chief Fire Officer James Hazlett said firefighters were called to the site, about 1km north of Ranfurly, just before 2am and remained there for about two hours.

Mr Hazlett said hunters used the huts during duck-shooting season.

Two fire engines - one from Ranfurly and one from Naseby - and a tanker from Ranfurly attended.

No-one was injured.

The investigation was ongoing but the fire did not appear suspicious.
