The Taieri River is in flood due to recent heavy rain and is affecting roads in the Maniototo.

Fulton Hogan, which maintains the road network for the Central Otago District Council, advised this afternoon that the Maniototo Rd is closed at the Halls Ford Bridge, with alternative access through Duffy Lane or Wilson Rd.

Lake Onslow Rd remains closed, due to washouts, on the Teviot side just beyond the huts and on the Maniototo end at Linnburn Runs Rd.

Danseys Pass Rd also remains closed because of washouts on the Waitaki District Council side.

The road is closed at the reserve past the Danseys Pass Hotel. It is hoped the council will open it  towards the end of the week.

Puketoi Rd is restricted to 4x4 vehicles, and caution is advised for Loganburn Ford Rd, as there are areas of isolated flooding.

Drivers should also take care on  Creamery Rd and the Ranfurly-Patearoa Rd as river levels rise.

Frequent rain has also affected high country tracks in the area over the past few weeks, causing ford crossings to be swollen and water scour damage.

The Southland District Council advised that Fleming Rd will be closed overnight again due to floodwaters. Other roads are open but drivers should still take care as water could be lying across roads.
