Look at mitigation progress

The Lawrence-Tuapeka Community Board is looking at progress on flood mitigation work in the town, following serious flooding last June.

The board met in Lawrence earlier this week, where it was joined by four members of the public. Clutha District Council staff said a contract had been awarded for replacement of the Lismore St culvert, and further culverts in Irvine St and Simpson Park had been cleaned.

The council was now waiting for feedback from Otago Regional Council’s natural hazards team, after it visited Lawrence recently to assess the issues at first hand.

Once that was received, any further work required could be scheduled accordingly.
