Music and dance promising to entertain and energise will be performed in Central Otago this week.

Arts on Tour is bringing the Mundi Trio to Ettrick and Bannockburn.

The trio is made up of Brazilian percussionist Ricardo Stuani, guitarist and dancer Chris Dabinett and flautist, vocalist, percussionist, dancer and composer Tamara Smith.

The group has performed at arts festivals around the country.

They performed as part of the Pub Choir at the Christchurch Town Hall and were part of Yo-Yo Ma's Bach Project.

Smith has travelled the world performing in jazz clubs in Paris, recording an album in Sri Lanka, learning traditional Indian flute by the Ganges and warding off alligators in the heart of the Amazon.

In the Arts on Tour performances, Mundi Trio will perform a new series of compositions that weave together flutes and percussion.

The show is an array of duelling Brazilian/African percussion with hypnotic guitar and vocal melodies with dances choreographed by Smith intertwined.

Mundi Trio will be at Benger Garden Cafe, Ettrick, tomorrow and Coronation Hall, in Bannockburn, on Saturday.
