The Teviot Valley Community Board now has a full complement of board members.
Jenna Stevens (28), of Mt Benger Station, a farmer and mother of three, was sworn in at this week's meeting, after winning a by-election to fill the vacancy.
The by-election was called after only three nominations were received for the four-person board at the last election and voting closed last week.
''It's interesting how we don't have enough people [for the board] the first time around and then end up having an election,'' Central Otago Mayor Tony Lepper said, after Mrs Stevens was sworn in. It was good to see some ''young blood'' joining those in local government in Central Otago, Mr Lepper said.
Mrs Stevens was the youngest elected member in the board's 25-year history. She joined Raymond Gunn, Cliff Parker, Russell Read and district council appointment, Cr Stephen Jeffery, on the board.
