Dunedin Hospital's norovirus scare is having little effect on Central Otago's Dunstan Hospital.
Dunstan's infection control practitioner Joss Williams said the hospital was carrying on as normal.
"If we need to send anyone to Dunedin we have an excellent phone relationship with the doctors and Accident and Emergency staff there, so we will discuss all the options."
A medical problem would be discussed and whether a bed was available.
"We would then decide: can we carry on here, or do they need to be seen in Dunedin, and make a decision at the time," she said.
Patients with Dunedin Hospital clinic appointments would need to be rescheduled.
