A team from the district won the second Maniototo Community Cup - a Top Town-style contest at the Waipiata Domain on Saturday.
The cup was launched last year, organised by volunteer-run community radio station Burn, to coincide with the station's 20th anniversary celebrations.
The event proved a success and Gimmerburn was the inaugural winner.
Eight teams vied for the trophy this year.
As well as Oturehua, Ranfurly, Naseby, Gimmerburn, Waipiata, Patearoa-Paerau-Styx, Wedderburn and Kyeburn-Danseys all fielded teams of eight people.
The "eight" theme was continued in the number of activities.
Throughout the afternoon, contestants had to paint a work of art with spring as the theme, play hockey using tree branches fashioned into hockey sticks, find "treasure" buried in sawdust, and cart water to a bucket while balancing on a reel, among other tasks.
It was the first time Oturehua had entered the contest, and it finished well ahead of its nearest rival, with 78 points compared to Waipiata's 68. Ranfurly and Gimmerburn tied for third on 63 points.
Next year Gimmerburn will host the contest.
