Roxburgh East homeowners recently returned from a month-long overseas holiday to find their house completely ransacked, police say.
Constable Craig Bennett, of Roxburgh, said the home owners had been overseas visiting family since early November.
They returned to find personal and household items stolen and the rest of their house in total disarray.
"Some time over the last month this home has been burgled and extensively searched.
"A lot of property has been tipped over or out so everything has been in view.
"Drawers have been ransacked and contents spilled all over the house, and a lot has been taken including computer gear and ammunition," Const Bennett said.
He believed the homeowners had insurance.
Police are continuing their investigation.
