Two-day summer arts festival launch tomorrow

Two packed days of arts in and around Lawrence will be officially launched tomorrow night.

The annual Lawrence Summer Arts Festival will feature a variety of exhibitions, concerts, displays and other arts-related events over two days.

Publicity officer Lisa Wilson said the festival opening will be an invitation-only gathering at Blue's Woodturning Gallery tomorrow night, with the public getting the chance to see the array of events on Saturday and Sunday.

The gallery will host an annual exhibition which features about 15 works, which will be judged and the winner and runner-up named on the night.

A people's choice award will be decided at the end of the festival, with the public deciding the winner.

Mrs Wilson hopes the annual exhibition and official opening will grow bigger in future years as the festival itself takes on greater prominence.

Full details and venues of the various festival events will be published in the Otago Daily Times this week.
