Youth Affairs Minister Nikki Kaye announced this week $739,000 in funding would go to 30 councils for projects which support young people aged 12 to 24.
''The point of this fund is to get young people involved in and leading projects that are meaningful to them and their communities,'' Ms Kaye said.
''It also enables them to develop leadership skills, and to volunteer in their communities.''
The Queenstown Lakes District Council will receive $25,000 to deliver three youth-led community events in Wanaka and Queenstown, to put on the Wanaka Youth Celebration and Awards event and deliver youth leadership mentoring in Queenstown.
The Central Otago District Council will get $20,000 to provide youth leadership opportunities and training in Alexandra and Cromwell and deliver the Cromwell Youth Forum, including two youth-focused events.
The Waitaki District Council is to receive $15,000 to deliver leadership and event management training and provide to youth-led events.
Ms Kaye said since the launch of the Youth Development Partnership Fund in 2005, more than 50 city and district councils had been supported to work with and improve the outcomes for young people in their regions.
