Awards for academic excellence have been given to pupils at East Otago High School for the first time.
The inaugural A.W. Familton Awards, named after Waitaki District Mayor and long-serving East Otago High School principal Alex Familton, were presented to 10 pupils gaining an NCEA qualification endorsed with merit.
The pupils had to have 50 or more credits at merit or excellence level to gain a silver merit badge.
