The grounds at Waitaki Boys' High School in Oamaru are playing host to 70 up-and-coming footballers aged 13 to 16 at the Southern United football academy.

Tasuku Yoneto (15), of Queenstown, Jamie Le Comte (14), of Dunedin, and Sam Cosgrove (14), of Dunedin, watch Jak Stevenson show off some of his skills yesterday.

The four-day football camp selectors chose boys from Invercargill north to Timaru for four teams.

Today players go to Christchurch for match play before a final recovery day at the camp.

Trials for the girls academy begin on April 29 in Dunedin.
