A hiker has been found after becoming separated from their group in the Waianakarua Scenic Reserve in the Waitaki District.
North Otago search and rescue were put on alert early this morning to find the person missing in the reserve south-west of Herbert.
A police spokeswoman said they were notified about 2.55am when the hiker activated their emergency locator beacon.
She said the person was found by an Otago Rescue Helicopter and guided back to their camp.
The search and rescue team were not deployed and the hiker had no injuries.
