Slip advice group

A land stablisation advisory group has been formed to provide input into the development of options to control slip movement in Moeraki.

Historically there have been many slips in the seaside township and the latest land movement developed in 2011, the Waihemo Community Board was told on Monday.

The group will also provide communication between the Moeraki community and the board. The group will be chaired by community board chairman Rod Philip. Other members are Waitaki district councillor Kathy Dennison, board members Linda Begg and Jack Lyford and Moeraki residents Bill Pile, David Higgins, Tania Johnston and Amanda McLellan.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
